Residential Home for the elderly 2020
Along with a small group of fellow members of the 'Vale of Pickering Art Club', Colin assisted with an art project for residents in a residential home for the elderly in Pickering.
Whitby and North York Moors Home Education Group
Colin led this group as part of their Halloween Activity day in 2019. The objective was to work in collaboration to produce a group mural.
Project in North Yorkshire
In March 2019 Colin assisted with a project working with a group of children with special educational needs (SEN). Individual help is vital in these situations. The focus of the day was shadow puppets and the effects of light on colours, shapes and movement.
Project in Kathmandu Nepal
In 2013 Colin painted a mural in the entrance of the 'Hope Centre' children's home in Kathmandu, Nepal. This was inspired by the lotus flower decoration found in Buddhist temples in Kathmandu.
The location of the mural beside the main entrance is used for group photographs of the children with sponsors and volunteers.
Colin and his wife Sandra, also organised a complete redecoration of the whole of the interior and involved all of the children. This also included creating murals for their dormitories. It was important that all the children participated and made a valuable contribution, even the most severely disabled. At times there was more paint on the children than on the walls!
The children have a lovely attitude towards each other and everyone was keen to assist with the cleaning up ....... it became an enjoyable and entertaining activity.
